There are moments in the horse world that remind us why we dedicate our lives to these incredible animals. For everyone at JVT Stables, seeing Reba featured on the cover of the August 2026 issue of The Morgan Horse magazine is one of those unforgettable moments.

More than a championship photo, this cover tells a story of hope, perseverance, and the remarkable bond between a horse and her driver.

A Special Beginning

Reba’s story began right here at JVT Stables in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born during one of the coldest times of the year—a frigid January night that required around-the-clock care. Her stall was wrapped in blankets to keep out the winter chill, a heat lamp provided warmth, and baby blankets had to be changed every few hours to keep the newborn filly comfortable.

From her very first day, Reba was surrounded by love and dedication.

As she grew, it became clear that she possessed the athleticism and elegance that make the Morgan breed so admired. Bred, raised, and started in our barn, Reba displayed the animated trot, intelligence, and willing attitude that are hallmarks of the Morgan horse.

Like every young horse, she was learning and growing. What no one knew at the time was just how extraordinary her future would become.

Finding the Perfect Partner

Every horse has a purpose.

For Reba, that purpose became clear when Andrea Pianka’s family reached out about the possibility of owning her. It was the beginning of a partnership that has flourished for nearly a decade.

Andrea is an accomplished carriage driver who competes while using a wheelchair. Her specially designed carriage allows her to safely drive, with the assistance of a side driver who can help if needed during competition.

The carriage itself is an impressive example of adaptive engineering. A rear ramp allows Andrea to roll her wheelchair into position before it is securely locked into place. Multiple people assist during the loading process, carefully balancing the carriage while Reba stands patiently, waiting for her partner.

Because Andrea has limited hand strength, special wrist cuffs help her maintain contact with the driving lines. Even so, much of Reba’s work is guided through years of trust and voice commands.

Their partnership is built on communication, confidence, and mutual respect.

A Championship Performance

In 2025, Reba and Andrea competed at the New England Morgan Regional Horse Show in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Together, they delivered a memorable performance that earned them a class championship. Their success was celebrated not only by those in attendance but throughout the Morgan horse community.

The photograph from that winning performance was later selected for the cover of the August 2026 issue of The Morgan Horse magazine—a tremendous honor recognizing both the exceptional Morgan breed and the inspiring partnership between horse and driver.

For everyone connected to Reba’s journey, seeing her featured on the cover was an incredibly proud moment.

More Than a Champion

At JVT Stables, we often say that horses have an amazing ability to change lives.

Reba reminds us that success isn’t measured only by ribbons or magazine covers. It’s measured by the connections we build, the confidence we inspire, and the lives we touch along the way.

Watching a filly born in our barn grow into a national cover horse is deeply rewarding. Even more meaningful is knowing she found the perfect person to share her journey with.
